Singapore’s Changi Airport is not only a great place to travel, it’s also stocked full of great locations for photography. Whether you’re a resident of the “Garden-City” or just passing through, there’s a great number of beautiful photo spots at this iconic location. In this video I share my favourite places to take photos at Changi Airport.

A great location to shoot both the sunset and light trails.

#1 Terminal 2 Car Park 2B

We start off on the highest level of Terminal 2 Car Park 2B. Head to the highest level 5, walk towards the corner closest to Jewel and you will see this view (image above). The bend on the road below is perfect for light trails. I recommend a safety cord for your camera if you shoot here in case your camera falls over.

#2 Wonderfall

Our 2nd spot is Wonderfall, Terminal 2’s latest attraction. The Wonderfall is a 14m tall and 17m wide LED wall that spans the height of the Depature Hall.

This waterfall display responds to real-time lighting, offering a different experience depending on what time of day you visit. You can take some photos here of the crowds enjoying the view.

This one is a bit out of the way from the other photo spots, so skip this one if you’re short on time.

The arrows on the road point towards the vanishing point in the distance. Composition works out very well here but look out for the reflections on the glass window. Bring a dark cloth to block out reflections or be prepared to clone them all out.

Place your camera on the floor for this symmetrical shot of the tunnel.

#3 & #4 Tunnel from T2 to Jewel

Go back to where we started at car park 2B. From there, take the connecting tunnel that goes from T2 to Jewel. These 2 photo spots are at the end of the tunnel, near the Jewel side.

#5 Rain Vortex

Go straight in from the tunnel before and you should see the Rain Vortex before you. Bring a tripod for long exposure photography if you want to capture the light shows.

#6 Rain Vortex Central View

From the previous location, head back and turn right. Walk all the way until you see a pair of escalators side-by-side, go down one level and you’ll see this view. Position yourself at the center.

This spot works well for wedding shoots too!

Lots of lines and triangles for you to explore your creativity. Watch out for crowds. Use long exposure to make people “disappear” or remove them in post.

#7 Jewel Top View

From the previous spot, go back up the escalator and turn right, keep going up two more escalators until you’re at the top floor. You’ll come to this view.

Alternative Rain Vortex View. The Christmas Tree obviously isn’t here all year.

#8 Rain Vortex Central Opposite View

Take the escalator down, make a U-turn and walk straight. This is similar to the central view at #5, but this is from the opposite direction.

Use the lines here to your advantage. A few strategically “placed” human elements might help your composition too.

#9 Terminal 3 MRT Escalators

For our last location, take a SkyTram from Jewel to T3. Head towards the Departure Level on top of the MRT station. You’ll come to this viewpoint with the long escalators. Use the lines here to your advantage to draw the viewers’ eyes where you want them. It helps to be patient and wait for some commuters to position themselves at compositionally pleasing parts of the frame.

There was another location at T3 that I wanted to share, but it wasn’t available due to a Christmas decoration while I was here.
